Hello! My name is Hannah Holmes, and I am currently a postdoctoral scholar in the Tarpeh Lab at Stanford University. Previously, I earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
My research advances environmental separation technologies that support sustainable development goals. I have experience in recovering dilute contaminants from complex gas and aqueous mixtures, including carbon capture from air and nutrient recovery from wastewater. I tailor separation methods to applications, and my toolbox includes adsorbents, membranes, and electrochemical processes. I enjoy studying materials across multiple engineering length scales - from molecular-level investigations using synchrotron-enabled spectroscopy to systems-level process analyses.
I am seeking a tenure-track faculty position in Chemical Engineering.
